Opening sequence to 'The Ring'

Although the sound track is actually from The Ring 2 on this example, you still get a very good idea on the atmosphere that can be created- simply just by the music. The eery music sets the scene- providing an insight as to what the film is about. It creates tention and mood. You know something bad will happen.

The sequence itself gives just enough detail away to keep you watching and wanting more. Its mainly shot in black and white/grey which reflects a bleek atmosphere (no cheery bright colours, in most of it). The images are flashing ones (snippets) and tell a rough guideline to the plot- without giving to much away. The sequence is quite creepy and the titles flash in and out as though loosing electricity- makes it more scary and fits in with the scenes portrayed.

All of this is worth remembering for our own title sequence... Don't give too much away!!
